A Balzac A Rodin
The undifferentiated mass of the sculpture at Carrefour Vavins, the cross-roads of Boulevard Montparnasse and Boulevard Raspail, in what must be a cloak of sorts on the man. Almost the beginnings of an abstraction, beyond the soft general forms of Malliol, harsh in its angularity.There are more casts of this Balzac littered about, as at the Kodak empire headquarters in Rochester, New York amongst other places. Somehow I think there are six.There is also a book dealer nearby who has pinched the statuesque name from the base.SC
